Preference #6: You're in labor.
- Johnny: You two were just sitting next to each other and watching a movie on the sofa, when your water suddenly broke. The baby was supposed to be due in two weeks! You started breathing really fast. "Uh, Johnnycake?" "Yeah, princess." He smiled at you. "My water broke." And right after you said those three words, he picked you up and nearly ran right out of the house, placing you into the car and speeding off.
- Two-Bit: You two were just cuddling in bed, on the verge of falling asleep, when you felt something life-changing happen; and that something was definitely not supposed to happen. "Gosh, Y/N, do you really have that bad of a bladder?" Two-Bit joked with you, nudging your side and letting out a tired laugh. "No, Two. My water just broke!" You screeched out in pain; the contractions were really getting to you. "Oh my God!" He yelled, instantly awake and running out of the door. "Keith! Did you forget something, or most importantly someone?!" You yelled at him. He returned to your room, took you by the hand, and almost dragged you to the car.
- Dallas: "To think that you're pregnant with our baby, wow." He chuckled, moving a few strands of hair from your face to he can take a good look at you. In public, he never really was this caring; either way, you loved this side of him. "I'm the luckiest girl ev- Ow!" You groaned, holding your side. You didn't recognize this pain, and that scared you. "Dally, I think my w-" "Oh, not again, doll. It happened the past two weeks, and it's been a false alar-" "Well, maybe the saying 'third time's the charm' is real!" You hissed at him. You grabbed him by his collar and brought your face to his. "Get me to a hospital now or you won't get some for a whole six months." You growled. That was enough to send him running, with you in his arms, of course. Lucky for him, you two lived two blocks away from a hospital.
- Darry: You've been off work for a while now, since you were due any minute. Darry knew you so well, that he knew all the types of cravings you could possibly have. You knew that he would be a great dad, and he would be so helpful. "Honey, I'm home!" You heard him yell from the front door, throwing his jacket onto the nearest couch. "Hey babe, how was work?" You asked, kissing his cheek. "Same old, same old." He sighed, about to sit down. "Well, that's n- Darry!" You squealed, trying to hold on to something. Darry was instantly at your side. "It's time?!" He panicked. You merely nodded, and you both left the house. Sadly for Darry, he never got a chance to sit on the couch for once.
- Sodapop: You and Soda were at the drive-in, watching the latest cheesy movie. You knew that Soda worked a lot lately, so you decided to hang out. "Gosh, Y/N, it's like you're gettin' bigger by the second." He grinned. "I know, it's also excitin'. And nerve-wrackin'." You sighed. You felt a sharp pain, and felt water trickle down your legs. Thank God you were in the back row. "We need to go." You said sternly. "Wait, like, 'go'?!" Soda blanched. "Yes." You tried to stay calm. "Oh my God. I'm goin' to be a dad." He whispered. Then, he stood up and yelled out to the crowd. "You hear that everyone?! I'm goin' to be a dad!" He yelled, smiling like a mad man. Cheers and claps of encouragement erupted around you. "Soda, now!" You squeaked. You and Soda then speed-walked to the car, and you both sped off to the hospital.
- Steve: "Hey, Steve!" You smiled, getting out of the car after driving into the DX. "Hey, sweetie." He said, getting mad since the car he was fixing still wasn't working. "I'll be with you in a minute, hun. Hold on." He assured you. You rolled your eyes. He always did this; you were eight months along and he didn't pay attention to you. After waiting for Steve and doing nothing, you felt something different happen. It was shocking; a little too different. "Steve, my water broke." You gasped. He seemed a little shaken up by that, but he just rolled his eyes. "Hun, if that's just a way to get me to pay attention to you, then that's a low blow." He grumbled. "I'm serious; really serious." You paled. He raised his head so fast, he almost hit his head against the car's hood. "Wait're you waitin' for?! Get in the car!" He yelled, getting into the driver's seat and you in the passenger's seat.
- Ponyboy: You were there in the kitchen, paying taxes. All of the prices you were reading stressed you out a lot. Ponyboy shook his head, and placed his hands on your shoulders. "You shouldn't be puttin' this stress on you, doll." He soothed. "But we have to!" You sighed. "Hey, let's go watch some cartoons, you'd like that, right?" He grinned, leading you out of the kitchen and into the living room. "Actually, I would." You meekly smiled. You almost sat down, until you felt water trickle down your leg. "Oh, no." You whispered. "What?!" Pony asked, looking stressed already. "Baby's comin'." You gasped. Ponyboy looked like he was about to faint, but he kept his composure and led you out of the house. "It'll be okay, it'll be okay, it'll be okay." He assured you, but it sounded like he was only trying to assure himself.
Preference #5: You both find a stray dog (Part 2).
- Sodapop: "Hey, beautiful! Look what I found!" You heard Soda yell from the front door. You didn't bother looking up from the newspaper, so you just said hi. "Babe. You really need to see this. Oh, too late!" He laughed as you felt something jump onto your legs. You looked up from the paper to see a Maltese looking up at you. "Can we keep her?!" Soda grinned. "Isn't the answer to that question a bit obvious?! Yes, we can keep her! What's her name?" You giggled as the dog licked your face. "We should name her 'Pepsi'!" He squealed. You just rolled your eyes at your childish boyfriend and continued playing with Pepsi, yours and Soda's new dog.
- Johnny: It was Johnny's birthday, and you sadly knew that his folks wouldn't bother to celebrate. You made your way home to get ready to visit Johnny, until you heard a bark and the familiar sound of large paws on pavement. You turned and looked to see a Saint Bernard with its tail wagging and tongue out. "Awh, who left you all alone?" You cooed. You saw a dog tag with the name only, not the address. "You want to meet somebody special?!" You giggled, and the dog barked happily in response. You both made your way home, you got ready and came back to get the dog from the living room. You both left the house and ran to the lot. Johnny was there, not looking too happy. "Hey dol- Oh, Jesus." He breathed, seeing the dog that was three-fourths his size. "Happy birthday Johnnycake!" You squealed.
- Ponyboy: "C'mon Pony, let's go to the park!" You whined. He was still reading, and you were just sitting there bored out of your mind. "Let me finish this page!" He said. "You said that sixty pages ago!" You groaned, falling off of the bed. He just chuckled at you. "Fine, if you want to go to the park, then we'll go to the park." He said, putting the book down. "Yay! Let's go!" You yelled, grabbing his hand. You ran and ran until you reached the park. You saw an abandoned football, and you both just started throwing it around. But, you threw the football a little too far, so Ponyboy had to go run and get it. You knew that this was going to take a while, so you sat down on the grass. You looked around, taking in the scenery of the lake next to the park and the sunlight peeking through the trees. "Hey, Y/N, look what I found!" You heard Pony laugh, and you turned to see him with a Chihuahua in his arms. The dog was shaking, and you pouted. "Awh, she looks so scare- wait, it is a 'she', right?" He asked. "How should I know? Let's name it 'Tiny'!" You smiled. You walked home with a new dog, and Pony never got to finishing that book.
- Darry: "Hey, sweetie." Darry grumbled. You could tell that he had a long day at work, just by the expression of pure exhaustion on his face. "Hey, how was work?" You asked, kissing his cheek. "Tiring, like always." He said. "I just wish I had more time to see you. I feel really alone when you're late at work." You pouted. He just hugged you. "I wish I could do something about it." He whispered, planting a kiss on your head. He just sat there, until his face went from exhausted to excited. "I'll be right back, hold on!" He ran out of the house, not waiting for an answer from you. You sat there for a good half an hour, when you finally had enough. "What has gone on in this boy's mind?" You whispered. You gathered your things, and opened the front door, only to be greeted by a huge dog knocking you onto the floor. You regained your sight to see a huge Great Dane on top of you, and seeing Darry with a big smile. "I saw him at the pound a while ago, and he was still there! Now you won't be alone anymore." He smiled at you. You giggled as the dog barked and licked your face, slobber now all over you. Only Darry would do this, and you loved him for it.
Preference #4: They find out you were abused.
- Dally: "I-I need to tell you somethin'." You told him nervously. "Sure, doll." He kissed your cheek. "Well, I never told anyone this. A while before I broke up with my ex, he used his switchblade on me." You told him, revealing the huge scar still on your thigh. He just looked at you for a few seconds before standing up and storming out the door. "Where are you goin'?! Are you goin' to leave me?" You sobbed, was he seriously going to leave you for something that wasn't your fault? He stopped in his tracks and turned back to you in shock. "Babe, no way will I ever leave you! I'm goin' to find that jerk and make him regret even thinking 'bout you." He growled. He took out his heater and jumped into his car, speeding off to do some damage.
- Sodapop: Your parents abused you for a while now, but you always hid your bruises. You were invited to Sodapop's house, and you wore a long sleeve shirt and shorts, since your arms were bruised. "Hey, beautiful!" Soda hugged you, not giving you room to move your arms. You struggled, which only hurt. You tried to hide your pain, but Soda noticed. "You okay?" He asked you, letting you go. You nodded, and sent a fake smile his way. "I'm fine! Hey, let's go inside." You said, grabbing his hand. He took that to his advantage, and lifted up your sleeves. "Who did this?" He hissed, looking at the bruises. "Soda, I ca-" "Who?! Why?!" He raised his voice. "My parents." You whimpered. "You're staying here. No exceptions." He looked down at you. Then, he just held you, and you felt some tears hit the top of your head.
- Johnny: "Baby doll, why didn't you tell me sooner?" He whispered, shocked at what he just heard. You just told him that a long time ago, your ex-boyfriend took advantage of you. "Yeah, it's true. I had to go through major therapy, and it was just so horrible! Oh God, Johnny; what if I see him again?!" You cried, desperate for his arms to be around you. He hugged you instantly. "Babe, he won't touch you ever again. I promise you. And if he ever does, I won't hesitate to hurt him. And you also know that you have the whole gang with you." He said, gently pushing his forehead against yours.
- Darry: "Darry, please, don't." You pleaded. He was in a rage, going to look for the guy who hurt the love of his life. "Why not, Y/N? Why shouldn't I find the guy who hurt you like that?" He yelled, slipping on his shoes and jacket. "Don't stoop down to a level that you won't pass! Ever!" You warned. He stopped moving, and looked at you. "Honey, you know I won't do anythin' to hurt you, but please let me teach this guy a lesson on how to treat the most perfect woman ever." He said, leaving the house.
- Ponyboy: "He did what?" He squeaked, looking at you with big eyes. You nodded sadly. "Yeah, he did. He hit me." You whispered. He seemed to be thinking something over in his mind, and he seemed to come up with something. "I'm stayin' at your house tonight. If anythin' happens, we run from there. We just run. You'll stay here. Darry and Soda will understand." He stated.
- Steve: "I'll kill him." He growled, cleaning the oil off of his face at the DX. You ran all the way to Steve to tell him about what just happened; your ex-boyfriend kissed you and grabbed you in places you didn't want to be grabbed. "Okay, Steve, I know you're angry. I get it. But let's not do anythin' that can potentially put you in trouble." You warned, but he didn't seem to listen. "So, do you want me to kill him now or later?" He asked, ignoring your previous statement.
- Two-Bit: "Two-Bit, calm down!" You yelled. You told him what the bullies at school did, and he freaked out. "Baby, I ain't calmin' down!" He said. "This isn't that serious, Two. You don't have to be missin' Mickey Mouse and cake at Darry's for somethin' that happened last year." He just looked at you in shock. "You mean this happened a long time ago and you didn't even tell me?!" He shrieked. You shook your head at him. "Two, we didn't even know each other when it happened!" You chuckled at him. "I don't get why you're laughin'. I don't care if you were a total stranger, I still would've helped you. You're special, and I remember basically drooling the first time I saw you." He grumbled, causing you to blush.
Preference #3: You're sick.
- Darry: He would literally stop everything he was doing and stay by your side. Whatever you needed, he would be there for you. Sometimes, he wouldn't even let the gang come around so they wouldn't get sick. You loved how he would take so much care of you, yet make sure that the gang stays healthy.
- Two-Bit: He would cuddle with you and watch Mickey Mouse re-runs. He had medicine on the nightstand, so if you needed anything, it would be right there for you. But, he never would forget to crack a joke or two just to make you smile.
- Johnny: He was always like a little lost puppy, so when he realized how sick you were, he kind of freaked out. Well, 'freaked out' was a huge understatement. He basically went crazy making sure that you had everything you needed, whether it be medicine, tissues, or just a pillow. He needed to make sure that his princess was okay.
- Dally: He never really was a big softy, but around you, he would do anything for you. He would even bring you whatever you needed. If you ever needed more medicine, he would go to the store, but he would still buy himself a pack of cancer sticks. He would get stressed from taking care of you and making sure that you were better every single day.
- Ponyboy: You got to school one morning, but you weren't feeling well. Your boyfriend, Ponyboy, noticed though. He put his hand on your forehead, and instantly became overprotective of you. He took you to the office, making sure that you were okay, and stayed there while you had your temperature taken. You had a high fever, and Ponyboy just sighed. "Well, at least I'm goin' to take care of you." He smiled at you.
- Sodapop: He would always try to kiss you. Always. He would always look for the opportunity to hold your hand, cuddle with you, or even just be within a foot of you. You would always push him away since you didn't want him to get sick. Also, you weren't in the mood to cuddle. You just wanted to get better, so you could spend time with your family, the gang, and Soda. Sadly for him, he never figured out how to get that kiss from you.
- Steve: He would just sit there, not knowing what to do to take care of you. You asked him for a piece of chocolate cake, but he refused to get it for you. "No, you're not eatin' cake, you're sick! You need soup and medicine!" He grinned at you, while getting up to get you what you needed. "But I'm not even that sick." You whined. He shushed you, before continuing. "Well, I don't need you to get worse, babe." He said, handing you some pills.
Preference #2: First fight (Part 2).
- Ponyboy: You and Ponyboy were planning a date at the movies, and you wanted to watch a movie that most people would call a "chick-flick". "C'mon, let's watch it. It'll be really nice!" You insisted, trying to get him to say yes. "No! Let's watch that new scary movie!" He whined. You rolled your eyes at him. "There's goin' to be too much blood! I don't want to get scared." You said, shaking your head. He just scoffed at you. "Wow, you're such a priss." He mumbled, but it was loud enough for you to hear. You just looked at him surprised. "Really, Pony? I'm sorry that I don't feel like cryin' my eyes out." You said, angry with him. "Fine, I'll go watch it with the gang instead." He smirked, knowing that you were riled up and walked out. The next night, you didn't feel like going anywhere since your plans were all messed up. You were dressed in your pajamas, and you were just moping around. You were about to drift off to sleep until you heard something hitting your window. You saw pebbles being thrown. You ran to the window, careful to not get hit, and saw Pony smiling up at you. "Well, what are you waiting for?! Let's get to the movies! I brought tissues!" He laughed.
- Steve: You weren't able to see Steve at one of his races, since your shift ran late at the last minute. You got home, only to find Steve drinking a beer and looking angry. "Hey, I'm sorr-" You started, but Steve interrupted. "Sorry don't cut it!" He grumbled. "My shift ran late, don't blame me! I wanted to come and watch but I couldn't. I'll go next time." You said. "Well, how do I know that you're not cheatin' on me?" He whispered. You almost dropped everything you had in your hands. "Are you serious, Steve?! Okay, I'm done with you. I'm goin' to bed. Have a good night, I guess." You ran up to the room, not bothering to change into pajamas. You woke up the next day to find somebody's arms wrapped around you. You tossed and turned to see Steve still sleeping. You leaned in and left a kiss on his nose. He stirred and woke up. He saw you looking at him and frowned. "I'm sorry." He said. "It's okay. I love you." You whispered as you snuggled into him.
- Sodapop: He was working extra hours at the DX causing him to come home a little late, but you were furious with him. It was your one year anniversary, why did he have to work longer now?! He walked into the house with the biggest smile on his face, and your face just showed the exact opposite of happiness. "What's wrong, baby?" He frowned, trying to kiss you but failing when you dodged him. "Do you know what day it is, Soda?" You asked him, faking sweetness. He thought for a moment, and you were about to explode. "Uh, it's Friday?" He asked, clueless with what you were asking. Your eyes widened and you were probably going to strangle him if you didn't control yourself. "No. Guess again!" You mockingly laughed at him. "Uh, it's trash day?" He laughed nervously. You just shook your head and pushed past him up the stairs. "What's the big deal, then?" He yelled at you. "Well, for starters; happy anniversary, Sodapop Curtis!" You cried, shutting the door to your room. You left your room a few hours later to find a trail of rose petals starting from your room all the way down the hall. You followed it, of course, only to find Soda holding a silver necklace in his hands and candles everywhere. "Wh-what's all this for?" You said, breathless. "For you. Happy anniversary, Y/N." He smiled at you.
- Darry: You were upset with him, since he's been really moody lately. You didn't know why, but you were going to find out no matter what. "Hey Darry!" You smiled at him, hoping to see that he was in a good mood today. "Hey." He said. "What's wrong? You've been down lately. Can I hel-" "No! Just stop talkin'." He groaned. You finally had enough of this. You knew that you didn't deserve this. "You know what, Darry? I just try to help you out whenever I can, and this is the thanks I get! I'm done." You cried, standing up from the couch until he stopped you. "Y/N, I'm sorry. It's just that my boss has been threatenin' me lately sayin' that he was goin' to fire me. I've been really stressed lately, and I'm sorry that I've been treatin' you horribly these days. Forgive me?" He explained, staring at you with his beautiful eyes. You thought about it for a moment, and then sat back down. "You're lucky I love you!" You exclaimed as he tackled you with kisses.
Preference #1: They get jealous/over-protective.
- Two-Bit: Whenever he sees a boy look at you too closely, all he needs to do is pull out his trusty switchblade and yell "Get lost!" to scare them away. Then, he would just look at you and give a cheesy grin. Sometimes he didn't need to scare them off, but you thought it was really sweet of him!
- Johnny: Ever since he got jumped, he's been extremely nervous. You always calmed him down, but whenever he saw a Soc looking at you the wrong way or treating you badly, he held your hand tight and just told you to ignore them. You were his princess, forever and always.
- Sodapop: You would visit him every week at the DX and you two would just hang out, have fun, and talk all at the same time. You had a great time until Soda went to the bathroom, then a guy came to the station because his car had a flat tire. He was flirting with you, until he saw Soda get out of the bathroom and glare at him. Even though Soda was a nice guy, nobody could talk to his girl like that without any consequences.
- Dally: You were at one of Buck's parties with Dally and the gang, when you felt a hand touch your butt. You turned around in shock, about to yell at the pervert who did that, but you saw that Dally was already taking care of it; and that meant that the pervert wouldn't get out of this fight without a broken arm.
- Darry: People instantly saw Darry as an intimidating guy, even though in reality, he was a big ol' teddy bear. That just resulted in guys barely hitting on you, but people wanted to hit his weak spot, and Darry's weak spot would get hit if anybody ever hurt you. You two were just walking home from the Dingo, when you noticed a car following you both. Whenever this happened, Darry would tell you to run home and that he would take care of everything.
- Steve: He was all muscles, so he would fight and easily win. You and the gang went to go watch him and Soda race one night. You had a great time, until Paul Holden winked at you. You ignored him though, sticking close to the gang. The race ended, and you were making your way towards Steve, until somebody stopped you. You turned to see Paul smirking at you; he was about to say something until Steve punched him out of nowhere and started a fight. You sighed; you were tired of the same fights every other night, but you knew he was only trying to protect you.
- Ponyboy: You two met on the first day of school, so you were obviously "fresh meat", as they would say. He would walk you to your classes, and make sure that no bullies started any trouble with you. No way would he let anybody try to hurt you or get you in trouble, and you loved him for that.
Ponyboy gets drafted. (Part Two.)
Five years passed, 500 letters were sent and replied to, but it felt like infinity without Ponyboy Curtis by your side. You waited for him every single day to walk through that door and yell “I’m home!”, but it never happened soon enough. You still visited the Curtis brothers and the rest of the gang, but it was never the same without him. Soda went to Vietnam three years instead of five like Pony, and now without Dally and Johnny here, it was never the same. You always asked Darry if there were any updates on Pony, but he always responded with a sigh; that definitely and sadly meant “no”.
But one day, things were totally different. The gang was sitting on the porch, but they didn’t talk to you; they didn’t even say hello.
“Hey, guys.” You breathed out, walking onto the Curtis’ porch to do your daily visit. They said nothing, absorbed into their own little worlds to even acknowledge you. “Hello?” You asked again, wondering if maybe they had the decency to talk to you. But, there was no response.
You were a little upset though, because you didn’t know if you did anything to make them ignore you on purpose. You shook it off though; they would come around soon enough. “Alright, since you all want to be jerks and not talk to me, I’ll just get a piece of chocolate cake and go on my way.” You huffed, making your way into the unlocked home.
The minute you walked in, you noticed a large shadow out of the corner of your eye. You turned around frantically, noticing the boys were still outside and you were the only one indoors. You chuckled silently, and walked over to the kitchen. “Stupid hallucinations, always gettin’ the best o’ me.” You huffed. The boys walked in together soon enough, and sat down on the couches, staring at you. You walked over to them and gave them a piece of your mind.
“Guys, why’re you starin’. I’m kind of mad at you all for ignorin’ me; this ain’t helpin’!” You snapped at them with your hands on your hips. You glared until a voice sounded from behind you.
“I could see why they’re starin’. You’ve become even more beautiful since the last time I saw you.” The voice said. You dropped everything, gasped, and turned around fast enough to give you whiplash. Even though the voice was way deeper than you remembered, you could still identify that voice anywhere.
“Ponyboy!” You yelled, then crashing your lips onto his. Five years without him with you; five years since you’ve been this close to him. He’s gotten taller, and his hair darker. It still had the signature grease, and his eyes seemed tired. The boys cheered and whooped in the meanwhile of you and Ponyboy reuniting. You both pulled away and just held each other in your arms, your tears cascading down your cheeks like diamonds; even Ponyboy was crying, and he usually didn’t cry that much.
“I love you Pony. I’m so glad you’re back.” You smiled as you looked into your eyes.
“I’m goin’ to stay, Y/N. I’m done there. I ain’t goin’ back. I ain’t leavin’.” He smiled back at you, sneaking one more kiss onto your lips. You finally felt at peace again, he was back in your arms for good.
Ponyboy gets drafted. (Part One.)
“Why are you leavin’?! You always leave!” You screamed at the boy in front of you. “Give me a good reason why.” You whispered after a few moments. “I got drafted, Y/N. I’m goin’ to Vietnam in a week.” The boy whispered back to you.
~~~
You woke up with a jolt. You’ve been having the same dream for at least three days straight now. You couldn’t tell who the boy was in the dream, and that scared you most. Was it your best friend, Johnny Cade? Or even worse; was it your boyfriend of eight months, Ponyboy Curtis? You were breathing hard as your brain went crazy trying to figure out who it was.
“Y/N, you okay? Had a bad dream or somethin’?” You heard Ponyboy mumble; you felt bad instantly, you woke him up again. “It’s nothin’, babe. Go back to sleep.” You assured him with a weak smile.
He gave you a face that basically screamed “You ain’t foolin’ me this time!”, and you just shrugged your shoulders at him. What could you tell him? You’ve been having dreams of a mystery boy that you seemed to love dearly? He wouldn’t be too happy to hear that.
“You’re not goin’ back to sleep ‘til you tell me. So get to it.” He said, propping himself on his elbow to face you. You breathed deeply; here it went.
“Pony, would you ever leave me? Like, not in the sense of breakin’ up with me, but, leaving?” You asked him. He bit his lip and broke eye contact with you; you were shocked, because you knew that he did that when he was nervous. Other than stuttering. Which he did. A lot.
“I’d ne-never leave you, Y/N.” He stuttered. “Well, why’re you stutterin’?!” You squeaked at him. “I don’t know what you’re talkin’ ‘bout.” He said, not stuttering but letting his voice go up a few octaves; something he also did when nervous.
“Then stop makin’ it so darn obvious that you are!” You raised your voice at him and stood up from the bed; you were getting mad at him and he knew it. “You’re always accusin’ me of somethin’; it ain’t my fault I have to leave!” He yelled; but his eyes widened as soon as he realized what he said.
“W-what?! What do you mean by ‘have to leave’?! Why are you leavin’? You always leave!” You screamed at Pony. A few moments of silence and stares passed, so you spoke again. “Give me a good reason why.” You whispered.
“I got drafted, Y/N. I’m goin’ to Vietnam in a week.” Ponyboy whispered back to you.
A/N: I’m thinking about splitting this into two parts! I’ll post the second part tomorrow. I loved writing this even thOUGH IT KIND OF CRUSHED MY HEART.
