Preference #24: You're insecure (Part 2).

  • A/N: *Possible trigger warning, I'm not too sure. Putting a warning just in case! xo - Sophie*
  • Ponyboy: Remember how Ponyboy wasn't too keen on greaser girls? Well, that changed when he met you. You two had a great relationship going, but your feelings about it soon took a turn for the worse when you heard all sorts of "jokes" from the gang. You knew they meant well, or at least they thought they did. You weren't one to change for anybody, but you took it into consideration when you looked at yourself in the mirror one day, looking specifically at your outfit. A tank top, jeans, Chuck Taylor shoes, and a nice leather jacket. Bright red lipstick and dark eyeliner, too. Pony didn't really care about the fact that you were a greaser girl; he knew that deep down, you were anything but a greaser girl. Pony didn't do anything about the gang poking fun at you, though. He felt that the gang would act like that no matter what, to your dismay.
  • Johnny: You had the same problem as Johnny. People thought that you were younger than you actually were. You had those eyes that looked like they belonged to a lost puppy, just like Johnny. Maybe it was your height, or maybe it was how soft-spoken you were. Whenever you wanted to be a part of a rumble, the gang would instantly deny it. It was as if they kept forgetting how old you were! No matter how many times this happened, or how much you wanted Johnny to say something, he would just look at you sadly and shrug because he didn't know just what to do. You learned something though; if Johnny could deal with it, then so could you.
  • Darry: One day, you were carrying a few boxes into your house from your truck. Aside from hanging out at the Curtis house, the gang liked to be at yours. "Hey Y/N, don't you think you're a lil' too weak to carry that?" Dally laughed, thinking he was funny. "Let Superman help you out!" You just rolled your eyes, but you knew that he was right. You went back outside and quickly looked down at your body. You weren't muscular, or at least strong. Your legs were really skinny, and you didn't have broad shoulders. You sadly hated your body, but you felt somewhat better when you walked back into the house to hear Darry yelling at Dally, setting him straight. "Y'know, Dal, you should help me out if you're oh-so-strong." You smirked at him, and he rolled his eyes at you because he knew that you were right this time, causing Darry to laugh and give you a big high-five.
  • Steve: "Babe, just try to do a flip!" "No, I'm not going to, Steve!" You sighed at your boyfriend, he was being so stubborn right now. He kept on showing you how he did his famous flips and he wanted to see you try it. You would instantly deny. Why? You remembered what happened when you flipped once; you were in elementary school, and it was during recess. You decided to copy your friends and flip like they did, resulting in a bad injury and total humiliation. You knew it for yourself, you weren't athletic. Steve helped you, even without knowing the reason why you were so insecure. But, time passed and you were finally able to flip like your boyfriend without anything going wrong.
