Extremely special Ponyboy imagine for all-brawn-no-brain; Happy 18th birthday, Taz!
“Finally, home at last.” You breathed out as you maneuvered your car into the driveway. Your parents were on a very important business trip, so you’ve been home alone for the past week. You were always okay with the fact that your parents were very successful, but you just wished that they were given the same trip at a different time. You were turning 18, and you just felt a little lonely. Although, there were a few people who you knew would definitely be there.
“Nobody’s home, so I shouldn’t get my hopes up, right? Happy birthday to me, I guess.” You frowned as you unlocked the front door. “Surprise! Happy eighteenth birthday, Taz!” You heard screams and laughs chorus around the room, including your own. You looked around the room with a hand over your heart; the whole Curtis gang was there! Steve, Two-Bit, Johnny, Dally, Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy, your boyfriend of four years.
They rushed over to you and next thing you knew, you were engulfed in hugs. You all nearly fell from all the force. “Gosh, guys. You didn’t have to!” You smiled warmly at them as they each let go of you, not before looking around at the decorations they set up. Streamers were everywhere, confetti covered the floor, presents were stacked on the table, and food; but the food, which was chocolate cake, was almost gone because of Steve and Two-Bit. You couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight.
“Happy birthday, darlin’. I love you so much.” Ponyboy whispered, wrapping his arms around your waist and kissing your cheek. You blushed under his touch, and kissed him. “Thanks, Pony.”
“Move out of the way, loverboy! It’s time for presents!” Two-Bit yelled, picking up all of the presents pushing Ponyboy out of the way, and bringing the presents to you. “Come on, birthday girl.” Ponyboy smiled, carrying you bridal style to the couch, the boys following. Ponyboy sat to your left, and Johnny sat to your right. Steve, Two-Bit, and Sodapop acted like true jokesters and tried to fit each of themselves onto the other couch, which was a loveseat. Dally had a beer in his hands, leaning against the wall. Darry just brought a chair from the dining room, shaking his head at the antics happening around him.
“My present goes first. It’s the purple box, your favorite color.” Dally smirked. You just looked at him in shock; how did he know that one? “I have a good memory when it comes to my friends.” He shrugged. You opened the present to reveal a new leather jacket. The best part about it was that the zipper was your favorite color, not the regular metal. “Dal, this is awesome! Thanks.” You looked up at him and smiled.
“My turn!” Two-Bit yelled. “Hey Two, I don’t think China heard you. Want to yell a little louder?” Darry groaned. “Oh no, I’m savin’ that for a special lad-” “Present, please!” You squealed while covering your ears, not really wanting to know the details of Two-Bit’s love life. The boys just laughed as he handed you the present. You opened the box to reveal Two-Bit’s switchblade. Your eyes widened and you looked up at him. “Jeez, Two. I can’t take your blade. It’s a real sweet gift, bu-” “Woman, are you crazy?! No way am I givin’ you my baby! I snatched an exact copy from this store around the corner. Sweet, right?” He smiled. You just shook your head; that was Two-Bit for you.
“I-I guess I’ll give you mine, next.” Johnny smiled meekly at you. He was like a big brother to you, yet you protected him like an older sister. Johnny handed a medium sized box to you, and you opened it without hesitation. “Oh my, Johnny, this dress is beautiful! Thank you so much!” You gasped, and then you stood up to hug him. “Anything for my little sister.” He winked at you.
“Let me give Taz my present before I have to go work! Taz, you’re getting old.” Darry joked, and smiled at you. “Look who’s talkin’!” Ponyboy laughed since Darry was the oldest out of you all. Darry handed you a gift bag, and it felt light, but you still wanted to know what was inside. You took out all of the pretty tissue paper to reveal an Elvis Presley vinyl, a poster of The Beatles, and a bottle of light pink nail polish. “Darry, thanks! I love it all.” You hugged him. You were really happy about your gifts, especially the poster because you loved The Beatles, unlike the gang.
“My turn!” Sodapop yelled. His personality literally made you feel happier; he was just an all-around good person. He handed you his gift, which was a bottle of your favorite perfume. “I was running out of this! Oh my gosh, how’d you know?!” You squealed in happiness as you looked at Soda. “Well, when you spray it on every day, you just know.” He laughed.
“Alright, cut it with the jokes. Here’s my present.” Steve smirked, handing you a dog collar. “Listen, Steve, if that’s your way of insultin’ her, then you’re doin’ it right.” Two-Bit hollered. “Not really, she can just put it around Steve’s neck and give herself another reason to call Steve a dog over and over again.” Ponyboy retorted, and you smiled at him. “You know I didn’t mean it like that, Taz! You’ll see.” He smiled at you, and then turned to Sodapop.
“Sodapop, open up the cage!” You heard Dally yell. “Wait a minute; ‘cage’?! What ca- no way! A dog! She’s adorable!” You squealed as you saw a white Shih-Tzu trotting over to you. “Good observation skills, Taz.” Dally chuckled. “Her name’s Dolly. She’s cute, right? Just like you.” Ponyboy whispered to you. “I love her.” You whispered. “Thanks, Steve. She’s perfect.” “No problem.” He smiled at you.
“Loverboy!” Dally laughed. “Oh, loverboy!” Two-Bit whined. “Are you goin’ to give your present?” Sodapop sang, going along with the joke. “Shut up, guys. Go eat some cake or somethin’.” Ponyboy blushed. Murmurs were thrown back as the boys trudged over to the kitchen, and only Darry was leaving for work.
“C’mon, Taz. I need to give you your present outside, in private.” He whispered in your ear, grabbing your hand. You were growing anxious; all the gifts that you received from the rest of the gang were absolutely wonderful, was Ponyboy able to top them? You inwardly shrugged the thought off; Ponyboy was your boyfriend, and he was amazing. You knew that.
“Alright, uh, here it goes. Taz, you’ve been my girlfriend for four years. Surprisingly, you haven’t stopped puttin’ up with my love for readin’ and watchin’ movies, and I’m pretty thankful. But, I’m not thankful for only that. I’m thankful for the fact that you just love all kinds of things. You love to be kind, smart, and generous. You’re not only an amazing girlfriend, but you’re an amazing person, and I would also feel like an amazing person if you said yes to bein’ my girl for longer. No, this isn’t a marriage ring, this is a promise ring.” He smiled at you like never before, slipping the silver ring onto your finger. In the center of the ring, it had your birthstone. On the inside part of the ring, your initials were engraved. “Ponyboy, this is amazing! I-I love you.” You said through your tears of happiness, leaning up to kiss him.
“This is the best birthday present ever.” You said against his lips. “Better than mine?!” You heard the boys yell out of shock, causing you and Ponyboy to laugh like crazy.
